Christmas Day
What a fantastic day!
I drove up to Kirkby Lonsdale ahead of the Minx and miniMinx, this morning, and went out for a run with Milly: down to Devil's Bridge, through the caravan park, all the way up and above the old trainline, along to Caterton School, before running back through High Casterton. Her running has come on amazingly, this year; she had no problem at all with the pace or distance.
My other twentieth century girls were already at the house when we got back and we all grabbed a 'sandwiches and crisps' lunch before we were joined by the Minx, her mum, the miniMinx, and Dean, who'd driven upon from Blackpool. Drinks were poured and everyone got along famously, which was lovely. Lots of Christmas spirit!
Over the course of the next two or three hours, we managed to strike the right balance between 'many hands' and 'too many cooks' in the kitchen so that by the time the Minx's mum and Dean had gone on their way and Dan and Abi had arrived we were all set for a wonderful Christmas meal.
I have to say that while we were setting everything on the table, it seemed like a ridiculous amount of food but it's amazing what nine hungry people can eat!
And after that we all sat around in the living room and exchanged presents. I loved seeing how much consideration had gone into them; it was a real joy to see the amount of effort that everyone had put into thinking about the person they were giving to. It was such a pleasure to sit back and watch; I felt very blessed.
