Diary of an Edinburgher

Invalid

Managed the bike again this morning, and hung out the washing in the sunshine for about an hour, then had to bring it in again as it was just damp outside. No visible rain, just general dampness.

BUT... JR came limping home, having 'fallen off' while doing step ups. She's twisted her ankle (and bruised her bum). So she lay on the sofa with frozen peas on her elevated ankle. Archie was Very Interested (he loves peas, frozen or not).

I took Archie out for a walk across the Meadows. I headed for a (dog friendly) cafe that I’ve never been in, but, alas, it was closed. It was a cloudy murky day, but as I came through the university buildings, I could see bright sunshine, so we hurried to get back to the Meadows, and we just made it. Fantastic sky.

I was very tired and stiff when I got home, and so I had a doze on one sofa, while the invalid occupied the other one. I think she was listening to a podcast with her new earpods in, though gentle snoring was heard, and it wasn’t Archie...

Hazel, our neighbour, had a cool-pad thingie, so I went and got it, and some Ibuprofen. She has reluctantly cancelled tomorrow's gym session, and is worrying about getting to the pub for lunch tomorrow with Rufus and his mum. It's not far, but I may need to drive her there. Just as well I still have my old walking stick...
