Golden Goodness

I was lured out of the Dower House by the sunshine before 7:30 this morning to go for a walk round the policies - the first such early morning ambulation this year. The sky was a cloudless blue but the air was so cold that the paths were beginning to freeze and the puddles to ice over. I’m quite glad that the rush of blood to my head was not sufficient to propel me out onto wheels - it will need to be a bit warmer than feeling -3°.
This bowl of gloriously colourful oranges in the blip is going to prevent my getting scurvy and bow legs., not to mention cheering me up just looking at them

I did a vegetable shop for loose vegetables. I find it hard unless I go to the independent Asian stores that don’t like my contactless payment. M&S is one of the nearest shops that have a lot of veggies loose (except for some reason, no loose parsnips today and I didn’t want a bag of them), so it got my custom and I now have a week’s supply of spicy vegetable stew and a pot of soup.

Another of my friends has just lost her husband to cancer. It has been a long painful decline for him. I met them in the Hospice in the summer of 2018 and discovered she had been at school two years below me. It’s so difficult to know how to comfort someone at this point, but I hope the flowers I took to her this afternoon do the talking.
