Beach scene

Eight weeks of good weather yet the area around Devil's Bridge has remained largely deserted. Sometimes the nearby car park has been completely deserted, which I don't think I'd ever seen prior to lockdown, and even when that was eased last week things didn't change much.

Now we've had two days of more typically Cumbrian weather followed, today, by some blistering sunshine - it was twenty-four degrees! - and all that has changed. The car park was full, this afternoon, and there were loads of people on the stony 'beach' down by the water.

And in my extra, you can see how the rain we've had has raised the river levels already. (Compare it with my photo from a week ago on the 13th.)
