The Not so Ugly Duckling

Lockdown Day 67

I had to take Bobbie back to the vets this morning to have his ears checked and washed out, and the good news is that everything looks ok.  The vet made me laugh when she came to the car to get him and said 'come on Robert'.

I dropped him back at home and then I drove to meet Louise at Hove Lagoon again for another walk along the seafront.  It was a lovely morning and wasn't too busy which was nice - whilst there were people on the beach, everyone was very well spread out.  We bumped into our other friends Rose and Amanda and after a distanced chat, we went to get an ice cream and then went onto the beach and all sat at a good distance from each other.  We spent about an hour and a half together and it was so nice to catch up face to face rather than on Zoom.  Louise and I walked back to the lagoon and as we were walking past the Big Beach Cafe we bumped into the owner, Norman Cook (aka Fat Boy Slim) who said a quick hello.

On my way home, I called at Queen's Park to see the swans and their three cygnets which are very young and so cute!  There were quite a few people in the park, but again everyone was respecting social distancing and it was nice to see people sat on their picnic blankets enjoying the lovely weather.

Once home I went in the hot tub before dinner and then we clapped for the final time with our neighbours.

Coronavirus update: as of Monday we're able to meet family and friends outdoors up to a maximum number of 6 people.  Although of course we still can't see our family as it's a 10 hour round trip and we're still not allowed to stay overnight.  Schools start to go back slowly,  outdoor markets and car showrooms can re-open,  as will National Trust gardens from 3rd June.  Dentists can re-open from 8th June  and from 15th June, some non-essential shops will re-open.  The next steps will be from 4th July when some pubs and restaurants, hairdressers and beauty salons may reopen, and leisure facilities and places of worship could re-open.

Even so, a further 377 people have died today and the total number of UK deaths is now 37,837.......

Stay safe x
