Diary of an Edinburgher

Adventure!

We’re off on a wee jaunt! Dropped Archie off at Rufus’s house at 8am and set off west. He’s stayed with Christine and Rufus before, and he’s allowed to sleep on her bed, so it’s great. Each day he has someone coming to take him a big walk - Rufus can’t walk so far, so it’s not handy for Christine to take them both out.

We whizzed across the motorway to Glasgow, then headed up past Loch Lomond - it did look bonnie, as ever - then over a few hills, round a few lochs, to our favourite - Inveraray. Despite a bit of drizzle on the way, by the time we stopped at Inveraray the sun was out. We had a wee dander. We know where the free parking is, having had a wee holiday there a while ago.

On down to Lochgilphead, then to the Crinan Canal. We’ve been there before, and we knew there was a nice seafood restaurant, but alas - it was still closed. As was the wee cafe. But it was sunny! Such a nice cycle path along there...

From there we were on single track roads with passing places, not the most restful of driving experiences, but as there weren’t many other cars around, it was OK. We drove along the south side of Loch Awe, a lovely forestry road, single track, windy and hilly - Archie would have HATED it, but we loved it.

We’re now relaxing in the hotel, which is comfy, in a great location lochside, but has seen better days. Hopefully it’s a half decent day tomorrow, but having seen the weather forecast, we’ll be lucky...

PS The e-bike people rang confirming that we will have them on Friday (or Monday). SO exciting!

PPS Happy Birthday Anne!
