What a different day

The pigeons coo-ing the trees above our van woke us at 5am which meant I didn’t get back to sleep but still we did go to bed at 10 no no problem.

Chloe, who we met in Kyrgyzstan, and Graham came from their rented holiday cottage and after a chat and a coffee we had a look on the OS map and found a track which led from the church to near the next village. It was pretty - cut wheat fields, poppies in the side, even undulating ground. Just when we thought we’d have to walk on a narrow but busy road Chloe spotted a tiny track leading into a field and a path had been cut around the edge. When it stopped at the road another little path led through a wood, across a stream and up past this church with an unusual tower. It was open so we had a look round before finding the pub. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a local beer. We decided to go back the way we’d come as though the road was a minor one, it was nevertheless busy. We found a pretty spot and ate our picnic.

It was so great to see them and of course we put the world to rights. If only.
