Van

Mr C was off early to take the old van up to near Perth to trade in for this new van. He wanted to get over the border in case we were totally locked down today.

In fact all Northumberland numbers are 30 per 100,000, the same as the Scottish Borders and much lower than South Tyneside, Newcastle etc. In fact in the north of the county numbers are a handful. Yet we can no longer meet anyone outside our household even in the garden or going for a walk. But we can go to the pub. Basically if a cash register is involved it’s all ok. Or go grouse-shooting in groups of 30 because it is a sport. We can’t pick up grandchildren from school but nannies can. I already know friends who are going to continue to meet in gardens. So I don’t see any of this working. I suspect it’s with pubs being open that numbers have gone up.

So my few days with Jenny in a country house hotel is off.

Good news is that #2 daughter who had to have a Covid test yesterday is ok. Phew as she was stuck in the attic and husband and boys were isolated downstairs. But James is out of his 14 days quarantine at 3.30 tomorrow so she’ll be off with the boys to the beach and they can have an outside active weekend.
