A day in town
The delivery came this morning - a new coffee table which matches the new sideboard. And very splendid it is too. I won’t be allowed to put my feet up on it though...
It was a beautiful day - blue skies, no breeze, but wooly hat weather (for me anyway). We decided to head into town - I love being in town on a sunny day - with a coffee stop at some point. I put Archie’s harness on, instead of his collar, as it’s slightly easier to tug him, should he decide to sit down. He hates it, and stood like a statue while we got organised to go out (normally a signal for him to get excited). He didn’t move. We opened the door and went out. No Archie. He was really put out. It wasn’t until we were out on the path that he eventually emerged, but soon forgot about the ‘awful’ harness.
We passed St Giles Cathedral, and down the Advocate’s Close steps. We were going to pop in on a friend who has just refurbished and opened a new shop, her fourth in town. She was delighted to see us.
When we left there, we passed a wee Italian cafe, with an interesting menu and nice smells wafting out. We sat outside - it wasn’t cold. We shared a seafood platter (Extra). Lots of mussels, which I love, but JR tried a few as well. Scallops too - yum yum.
A pleasant walk back up the Royal Mile - I was impressed how clean it was - not a spot of litter. I wish the whole city was like that!
A sit down (outside) at my favourite cafe for a coffee on the way home, and the nice waiter put on the heater for us, then a big run around on the Meadows for Archie - he’d been such a good boy in town, so patient, and got lots of compliments.
Awoke to the Big News this morning that Trump has contracted Covid 19. Amazing, because he’s the most protected person in the world, tested daily (sometimes multiple times), as is everyone around him, but has been so irresponsible in his behaviour. The memes are coming thick and fast...
