Reward

After rain stopped play for most of yesterday - thus confining us to barracks - it was a relief that it was a lot drier today.
Having missed out on the usual Sunday coffee, we decided to remedy that omission and combine it with a decent walk into town and back.
It surprised me how many places were open for business - either take away or “click and collect” in some form or other. Back in March everywhere was closed, in an attitude of “let’s all stay in together to beat the virus” and there was barely anyone around in the town centre. I think people are a bit more prepared this time and know what they can and can’t do to keep trading. As a consequence, there were quite a few folk around, visiting the bank, getting essential shopping or queuing up for snacks and drinks. Even those shops who weren’t open, had staff inside putting in the Xmas window displays. I do wonder what might have happened if I’d seen something in the window and indicated I’d like to buy it - would that count as “click and collect”?
We enjoyed(?) our coffees sat on a metal bench in a cold and windy Market Place, before wending our way slowly homewards.
And as a reward for our 5K trek, we felt we deserved some caramel shortbread. Only one piece between us mind - don’t want to undo all the benefits of the walk!
