Autumn Leaves

Only ventured out of the house for a quick trip to the supermarket today, but was struck by how much the Cotoneaster at the bottom of the drive had changed in the last week. It seems that almost overnight it has gone from vibrant green leaves and bright red berries to an almost uniform red.
I know these changes take place every year, but the enforced, “stay at home” idleness we are going through at the moment, makes them somehow more noticeable. Whether that’s because we’ve got sod all else to do and look at, or because we’ve become more attuned to nature this year I don’t know, but I’ve definitely been more conscious of the changing seasons in 2020.
One can only hope that as nature comes back to life in Spring, it reflects the return to normality in our everyday lives.
