A ‘Gothic Castle’
L2 day 27 - As I went for a cycle in the local area I passed Strawberry Hill House and was surprised to find the gardens open to the public, so I went in and had a walk around. The House is an example of Gothic Revival architecture built in 1747 by Horace Walpole ( the son of Sir Robert Walpole, Britain’s first Prime Minister). Also see the extra. Walpole was an avid writer, leaving many works including 7000 letters. An exhibition ‘Lockdown Letters to Horace’ is about to open. This is a curated response to over 250 letters received from the local community.
