On the way to the dump
Freezing cold today, the windchill they say. N and I loaded up the boot of the car with rubbish from the garage, mainly old domestic electrical stuff, and drove it to the town dump. Always full of people unloading into skips, at least our dump does not charge like the neighbouring ones do. I always think that is unfair as who collects large items of rubbish for fun, no wonder there is a lot of flytipping in the countryside.
Sad news on the animal. Yesterday the vet and the knacker arrived and the beast was still down. The vet issued the certificate and T disappeared while the knacker killed it humanely. Then there was a rush to hang it up so that it could be bled. So T picked it up in the JCB and it was hung over a field gate while the man again did what he had to do. It is always a relief when a dead animal is removed from the premises. We were told later that one of its hind quarters was very badly bruised with a possible fracture but the rest of the carcass was all right so we shall get paid something for it. And more importantly, the beasty is out of pain.
