"Cattle" Egrets

So many questions today.

1. At a new (for me) osprey nest...mom or dad osprey is flying in with a gob of spanish moss. Does the moss have a purpose...or do they think it just dresses up the place? It's a mystery.

2. Does it make you a better biker to wear the tight spandex biking clothes...or do you wear it because you THINK it makes you look good? It's a mystery.

3. Why do they call them cattle egrets when they hang around horses, too? Why not call them Large Animal Egrets? And...what's with the covering over the horses eyes? It's a mystery.

4. Whatever we call the little egrets...WHY do they hang around the large animals? It's a mystery.

One of the 4 questions I think I can now answer. After watching a snowy egret on the stinky boat equipment trying to pick off flies...I think the "cattle" egrets are trying to pick off flies on the horses legs. The poor horse. Not only is it covered in flies...but...it also has to deal with the pesky, peculiar, pecking egret. In my mind...it be a mystery no longer.

Our Georgia friends have left. I escorted them to the Interstate to make sure they didn't double back and return. (Not really.) They are the best kind of friends. Old. Dear. Loyal. Faithful. Faith-filled. Charming. Pleasant. It was a joy to have them.

I REFUSE to talk about the pounding the men gave the women last night in euchre. Last just say...the boys won ALL THE MARBLES!!

Have a look at my FLICKR PAGE for the bikers, the osprey, and a pretty house down by the river.
