Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Another cold dreich day. I texted Robert and told him not to come for Archie, to stay home and warm instead. I think Archie was quite relieved, too.

JR had a Zoom session with some of her gym pals, which they set up on their own. She did it in the front room, and chose her background carefully, as that’s what everyone notices.

Another Spiral episode, another (relaxed) 50 minutes on the bike. I suppose it’s better than not doing it...

Despite the inclement weather, we all set off for a walk round the ‘hood. I really needed my hat with ear covers - it was so cold. I really needed it, but I didn’t have it.

I listened to a podcast while out, which led me to watching a film about Estonia on You Tube. I don’t know much about Estonia, so it was a very interesting film. We’d like to go there one day... We also watched the next few videos as they came up, kindergartens in Norway (from ages 1 -6) are amazing. And how Norway invested their oil money, but still had high taxes. (We’d like to go back there again...)

Talking of films, last night we watched ‘Babyteeth’ (on Netflix). It’s an Aussie film that our pal in Sydney told us about - she knows the executive producer. Actually, we met her years ago, when she had just produced ‘The Piano’ (a bit of name-dropping there).

It’s about Milla, a seriously ill teenager, who falls in love with Moses, a small time drug dealer - her parents’ worst nightmare. It’s billed as a ‘comedy’ for some reason. Excellent acting by the young leads.

Sad about the death of Captain Sir Tom Moore, but boy - what a fantastic last year he’s had!

Archie goes crazy with the empty milk carton. Then he collapses.
