A pub no more!
L3 Day 46 A lovely sunset after quite a miserable grey and rainy day! A quick cycle ride round the local area between the rain storms and passed three buildings in Hampton Wick that used to be pubs.
The blip is of Navigator House which now houses various offices( including that of the garden designer Cleeve West) this was built about 1821, was a school for a while and then from 1881-1928 was The Grove Inn and then became Grove Motors until about 1982 when it was renamed Navigator House. Two other pubs (See extras) no more were the Rose and Crown was also built in the 1880’s and was a pub until about 2003. Upstairs there was also a small fringe theatre in the 1990’s. When the pub closed a The Sanyo Noodle bar restaurant operated for many years; its is now occupied by the ‘Painted Furniture Company’ which has a large showroom. The Railway Tavern, opposite the station, closed in 2010 and was converted into a house and is no called a Railway House. There are still 3 other pubs which were fully functioning before the latest lockdown and another pub which has been shut for a while.
