Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

All gone! Hardly a bit of snow left, just the odd patch. SO nice to be able to walk on pavements again without risking life and limb.

Archie found the last bit of snow on the Meadows to stand on. Only huge big puddles left, and squelchy mud, so we kept to the paths.

JR was doing a fitness class this morning, so Archie and I went for a walk, and I decided I deserved a flat white from my favourite cafe, and then I decided, as I’ve been very lazy for past few days, to walk on through the Grassmarket and back up the Vennel steps (8,074 steps).

After his warm bath, Archie and I watched the downhill skiing - crazy folk! Then Zoe and Leo came across town for a visit - out in the front garden. Rather chilly by 4pm...

We’re watching a rather good Danish series - ‘Deliver Us’ on Walter Presents.

From today, arrivals from 30 or so ‘red list’ countries will have to quarantine for 14 days in a hotel. But really it should be from any country eg USA has plenty of Covid cases, but they’re not on the ‘red list’. But it’s taken the UK government a whole year to come to this conclusion of ‘enforced quarantine’, oh, that they’d done it a year ago!!
