"Down Among The Gum Trees"
.....I'm no wedding photographer, and we're not related to the sweet bride and groom - but today down among the gum trees on the river bank as the Old Paddle-Boat Rothbury (blipped last month) passed by, we shared a precious moment of the Bride and Groom speaking their vows.
We had been speaking earlier to the Salvation Army Pastor and he told us there was going to be a wedding right there at 2:00pm.
Well, ofcourse the bride was late but no-one minded, the children of the guests had to be extracted from the river's edge, it was great fun throwing rocks into the river..
And one of the little flower girls lost her shoe, then found it..and then little page boy, gorgeous blonde-haired child with a cheeky smile, all of 2 and a half - dressed up beautifully in his black and white tuxedo and shiny black shoes to match - rolled happily in the grass and dirt..and as a result was covered in freshly cut grass cuttings, and dust, hair and all, and was, as a result again, not included in the wedding group here... (I guess we've all experienced a wedding like that - we have!)
But the wedding went on regardless, as it usually does, with the patient parents of the children, including the page-boy, standing by, and with us in the background looking a little casual for the day in comparison, but hey, it was fun to witness the happy couple taking their vows..and it was a lovely day indeed...
