It’s Raining Again

And has been all day. Food shopping this morning but the afternoon has just been spent either asleep or staring out of the window. Really couldn’t be arsed doing anything. Not from any sense of being depressed by lockdown, just the general ennui that comes with days like these. And not helped by my ankle still aching so I’m forced to give it a rest - wouldn’t be able to go out for a walk or run even if it was dry!
Having had a chance now to look at the “road map” in more detail, it does seem - for those of us who are retired and without kids or relatives in care homes - that it’s going to be a bit of a “Big Bang” moment on 12th April. We will go straight from “stay home/local” to “have a haircut, go to the gym, go shopping and travel to/stay in our flat”!
Unfortunately, Easter falls between “stay local” on 29th March and “stay in cottage or holiday let” on 12th April. Can’t help but think that a lot of selfish people will decide that the Lake District is local to Manchester or Liverpool - or even London - and will head up here, even though nowhere will be open.
We really need the police to be actively looking for, and prosecuting these people before sending them back home.
Either that, or we hope for traditional Lake District bank holiday weather. A few rainy days like today will be a small price to pay if it keeps the hordes away. But I’m not holding my breath...
