From Mighty Oaks

A title taken from one of the few records Mrs C owned when I first met her. If you bring a rare solo album by the Moody Blues’ flautist to a relationship, then you’re going to be a keeper!
Anyway, 42 years on, we’re still together and “Best of the Moody Blues” is the CD presently playing in Mrs C’s car! We had to take it for a service and MOT today. Not strictly speaking due for an MOT, because it had benefitted from the six month blanket extension in lockdown last year, but the in-car service indicator thought it was due and all previous MOTs had been in March. Seeing as we were going there anyway for the service, we decided to have the MOT done early to get it “back on track”, so to speak!
Taking advantage of having to go to Grange-over-Sands, we went for a walk along the prom, whilst the car was being serviced. Very pleasant it was too, with the added bonus that two delicious looking Steak, Mince and Gravy were purchased from renowned butchers, Higginsons, for tea tonight. Several interesting wooden sculptures along the prom, but I was taken by this one which I spotted in the Ornamental Gardens.
Car picked up, all work complete and MOT passed. They’d even managed to find a possible cause for the slow puncture we’d noticed. Not a hole in the tyre but possibly a leaky valve. All tightened up and monitors reset, so we’ll see how it holds up over the next few weeks.
As a final bonus, I managed to get a little trim clip for my car. I’d noticed it was missing a few weeks back, but decided that a twenty mile round trip to buy a 30p fastener, didn’t really fall into the “essential travel” category! But while I was there anyway - that’s a different matter.
I even bought a few extra in case another one goes astray in the future!
