House Hunting

We were quite excited this morning to see the great tits were trying out the nest box with the bigger hole. We have two boxes in the garden, one with a hole just right for blue tits and one for slightly larger birds. One of the great tits spent quite a white pecking at the hole as though it wasn’t big enough. We saw some nesting material going in but I might have frightened them off when I spent some time in the garden. We have seen blue tits going into the other box as well but I know we need to be careful of not overlapping their territories. The photo was taken through the window and was the only one taken so not the best.
This afternoon we did a 7 mile walk incorporating some of the coastal path. We noticed a sign on a path we use frequently. The path is going to be closed from 19th April until 23rd December as they are going to be updating the path in preparation for the River Otter Restoration project which started a couple of weeks ago and is scheduled to take a couple of years. It is a multi million pound project to restore the estuary back ti it’s natural and historic plains which got approval about a month ago.
