The gardener finished yesterday and the garden looks like someone else's now. He (or rather his wife) has even provided, at no cost, a design for a herb garden to go in the now vacant 9 metre border outside the kitchen.

I'm not sure what this plant is in the foreground but it dominates one of the front borders and, along with the pink heather, gives me something nice to look at when I'm at my desk, as I am currently.

A wet and gloomy day today and the dogs got very muddy for the first time since their haircut when Selina and I took them to Iron Hill this morning, so they are recognisable again.

Oh, and it's World Book Day today so this is my top tip for a good read. Small but perfectly formed.
