Make Every Day Memorable

Levens Hall

Left home at 3.30am in drizzle. No sign of the predicted thunderstorms.
The roads were fairly quiet and we arrived in the lakes for brekky. Sat outside Sizergh Barn in sunshine by 9am
On this trip we had decided not to venture into the National park to avoid the crowds and traffic jams.
Instead my plan was to visit nearby Levens Hall while JD took Jorgie for a walk. Horrified to see loads of cars and a coach in the car park but I think most people must have been in the house. The famous topiary gardens were relatively quiet and I had a lovely 90 minutes strolling around in the heat.
Our first campsite was in the same location so we headed off to checkin at lunchtime.
A quiet afternoon so the driver could catch-up on sleep and then we went exploring along the River Kent that borders the site.
Jorgie enjoyed her 2nd swim of the day. It was almost hot enough for me to have a paddle - almost
Spotted a stoat causing havoc. I think it was raiding a chaffinchs nest :-(

JD had booked a table at a pub we had visited last year. What we hadn’t anticipated was the 2m width limit at some point on the route. We took notice of the first warning sign and went the long way round, only to encounter another sign as we neared the village. We still don’t know where the pinch point was and managed to get to the pub ok and return via the route we had first intended to use.
I needed a large dink before my dinner!

A beautiful day topped off by a spectacular sunset as we drove back to camp.
Frustratingly no vantage point for a photo.
