Room with a View (E)
This was the view from the bedroom window this morning. Swinton was a big boat building area - Waddingtons being the main firm. I believe they still repair boats, hence the big cranes by the canalside for lifting them out.
On the front deck we keep the anchor which is a necessity when travelling on rivers - just in case - the chain from the anchor is in the bucket.
We moved down to Rotherham this morning and are now moored up opposite an industrial estate but it is surprisingly quiet and mostly hidden behind trees.
It's been dry since a bit of rain early on
so once we moored up I did the laundry and took the chance to wash the bed linen as there is a tap on the mooring to fill up with water again. It's all drying nicely - even Bella's Ted was washed!
Frank was getting a bit worried as we haven't seen anywhere to fill up with diesel. Normally there are pumps at boatyards along the way but as this journey has been mainly on the river there aren't many boatyards. He was chatting to a man at the last lock who offered to lend us a large fuel canister which we can fill up at Asda just by the river.
We actually have enough fuel in the tank probably to get us back to Skipton but we wouldn't want to be caught short.
Frank is just making tea and I'm really hungry. I think it's a spicy sausage stew.
The grandchildren in Scotland have broken up for summer now though Lucy and Amelia haven't been in school since last week as they got a message to say had been in close contact with a child at After School Care who has Covid. Amelia was really upset not to be at school for the end of term fun, whereas little Lucy was jumping for joy not to have to go to school! :-D
Teatime now!
Hope you've all had a good day :-)X
