WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Sheffield! (E)

We arrived in Sheffield - Victoria Quays - around 1pm after coming through 12 locks - The Tinsley Flight. There were lock keepers on hand and we came up with another nice couple - Barbara and John on their boat Lazy Dayz, so there were lots of hands and muscles working the locks.
On the approach to the city it was a bit off putting with so many derelict old industrial buildings with smashed windows, caved in roofs, graffiti and more rubbish in the water.
See extra for Frank and Bella camouflaged!
However, once we'd moored up in the very pleasant basin we went for a walk into town. What a lovely place! Beautiful architecture, wide open spaces with colourful gardens. The usual shops but as I said I'm not keen on shopping anymore.
The curved building in the collage is The Winter Garden. I'll blip it tomorrow.

We got lost on the way back to the boat and asked 6 different local people where Victoria Quays is. Nobody knew! One guy checked on his phone for us and sent us in the general direction.

We got back at 5pm - just in time to watch 'the match'. As I've said I am not a football or any kind of sport fan but we watched it anyway. England won 2-0!

We're both really tired - and Bella too - so off to bed now.

Goodnight :-)X
