Virtual Insanity

Having given you all a glimpse into the darker side of Mrs C’s mind yesterday, I thought it only fair to share with you one of her “lighter” moments from today. Apparently it was too hot to really eat anything so she turned her lunch into an artwork instead.
Thankfully, a degree of normality returned after lunch and we decided to visit a large furniture store - Stollers - in Barrow-in-Furness, mainly so that we could spend an hour each way in an air conditioned car. We didn’t intend to buy anything, but spotted a light that will be perfect for our bedroom and thus the wallet was eased open. By the time we left the store though, the wallet had been well and truly opened and our bank account emptied. A very friendly - and knowledgeable - salesman dazzled us with offers and discounts, but he didn’t really have to. One sit in a “Stressless” recliner and we were sold, whatever the cost. To be fair, we had already looked at this range in a furniture shop down in Chester but no one had been interested in serving us there - certainly not to the extent of explaining all the features.
In the end it was the perfect deal. We were able to get the colour, type of base and wood combination that we wanted and still qualify for the special offer prices. The salesman was very apologetic about there being a twelve week delay, due to it being a special order that would have to come direct from the factory in Norway. Not a problem for us - we wouldn’t have wanted it until about that time anyway, as the decorators and carpet fitters won’t be finished until mid October. And although it was still expensive, it was definitely a good third cheaper than the estimate we’d been given in Chester for the same thing!
Rounded off a successful afternoon by returning on the coast road and stopping for one of Roy’s fabulous ice creams.
