Monday: Across The Valley

Only shot of the day but not a bad view.

But, first things first.  We landed at Heathrow after a smooth flight of 9 hours.  I’m not a fan of overnight flights but it really wasn’t bad.  We had all our various documents printed - covid tests, passenger locator form etc.  But between departing in Vancouver and arriving in London, we weren’t asked for a single piece of covid-related paperwork.  I was really surprised.  In fact, we’ve never got through the airport so quickly.  Between landing, and picking up hire car (which involved a shuttle bus) it was 45 minutes.

So, with said hire car, we have driven up to Stroud, to stay with my cousin, Joe, and his partner, Stacey, for a few days.  K. was a hero and drove.  It was all fine apart from us forgetting that the roads are a bit narrower here than in Canada.  And we’ve had our first Gregg’s (a chicken bake so K’s happy).

Joe took us to one of his favourite pubs, the ‘Black Horse’, for a couple of drinks.  The views across the Gloucestershire valleys are just lovely.  And then a lovely barbecue in the garden before a relatively early jet-lagged night.

It’s lovely to be back, and so nice to see Joe and Stacey.
