On the mooove.....

Another frustrating no harvest day. Showers followed by spells of sun then more showers.
Spent part of the morning bringing in cows and calves to tag the calves and shift them to another field. There was also a set of twins among them.
Last nights calf still alive so I milked out enough to feed it from the cow. She has calmed down a lot now her raging hormones are settled a bit !
Went away to spread more slurry after lunch but wee brother phoned needing a hand to bring in a heifer with a dead calf. When we got her in we pulled a second calf out of her , also dead. So while he skinned one of them I went and grabbed one if this morning’s twin calves into the bike trailer and brought it next door . The calf is now wearing a very fetching second calf skin coat so that it’s new mummy will take to it( hopefully).
Turns out she was the 13th heifer to calf this year, and today is Friday 13th. Not that I believe in any of that nonsense. Just saying !
