Monodelphous stamen...

This is the stamen of the a hibiscus. I think they are so velvety and beautifully brightly colored. This one came along during the flower expedition on Sunday. I think the orange color of this hibiscus is indredible. What amazes me most, is that I grew up in Southern California and our yard always had Hibiscus and I never saw what wonderful flowers they were. Then I took botany in college and still didn't see the beauty. It took working in clay and photography for me to begin seeing.

Today I give thanks for the day I was given and the gift of sight, even if I didn't learn to use it for 53 years...
