A wee trip
Archie had a bonus walk with Elizabeth today. And as it was such a sunny afternoon, we decided to go for a wee dog-free drive. Can’t go very far in these short afternoons, so South Queensferry was chosen.
We had a slight panic, as they’ve changed the route there - a long way, round big roundabouts, and eventually in to the town at the west end, instead of the usual way in, from the east. But we realised that they must have made the COVID-related one-way system permanent. This is a good idea, as the main street is far too narrow for two-way traffic.
And it was MOBBED. Every man and his dog was there. But everyone can fit in, even though only a few takeaway coffee’n’cake shops were open. We realised just how busy it had been when we passed miles of parked cars on the way out of the village. I was well pleased that we scored a convenient parking place.
The tide was very very high. It was lapping at the door of the wee pier office on the harbour, and we couldn’t walk down the pier to get the best view of the bridge.
We were back home about 3.30-ish, just as the sun was disappearing again. After a pop in visit by a very excited Dougal, I watched ‘The Eagle has Landed’, which I’ve never seen before. Though I’m not keen on war films, it was quite watchable.
