Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A long, sunny walk.

Another fantastic sunny day. Chilly, but calm. I love this weather. JR went off at the crack of dawn for her Pilates session. I stayed a-bed for a while, with the online papers, Radio 4 and a coffee.

When we were organised later on, we went out for a walk. We went to the sofa shop to find out if we can get more feathers in our cushions. They do need a LOT of plumping, like - every time you sit down then stand up. The sample sofa in the shop didn’t need as much as plumping, and it transpires that cushions can be filled up to 15% more or less.

It was such a nice walk, down over the canal, past a COVID Testing Centre, which I didn’t know about, (and hope I don’t have to use) past the Edinburgh Printmakers (fairly) new premises. It was open, first time for ages. I’ve been in, and so has Archie. There is a cafe too, as well as prints for sale and an exhibition. JR hasn’t been in yet, but it was not to be, today.

We also popped in to the Dalry Cemetery, and there was such a sweet little book swap there. (Extra 1) We noticed the very appropriately named lane right next to the cemetery. (Extra 2)

It was a loooong walk. 8,340 steps! I was truly, absolutely, puggled. And we didn’t even stop for a coffee and scone in Bruntsfield! JR took Archie for a bit of stick chasing on the Links, while I came home to quietly collapse on to said sofa.

The Christmas decorations are down, which is always quite sad, although it’s nice to see some favourite items back in their rightful places.
