Swan Lake

Today's the day ......................... for a change of plan

We had gone to the place near Castle Douglas where we had seen a wonderful murmuration of starlings, not long after we came to live here - in the hope that we would see them again.  

The conditions were perfect for it today because the sky was clear as darkness fell.  But, as is often the way of these things, we saw nothing even remotely resembling a murmuration.  This solitary swan on Carlingwark Loch, with wings raised in 2nd position, was the closest I came to an avian action shot. 

Somehow though, it was so beautifully still and peaceful (see extra), that it was enough just to be there and enjoy it.  There will be another time for the murmuration ........................
