Secret passageways...
So there's something slightly odd about my office. There are all sorts of random little passageways and locked doors. I have no idea where they go, there is one (not this one) in the corner of my office that is halfway up the wall and so thin it's only about the third of a width of a regular door. What kind of freakish person used this door?? I know the building was built in 1885, but surely we weren't such different shapes back then?
Anyway, this door was open today. I managed to coerce a colleague to come investigating with me (too scared to go alone in case someone inadvertently locked me in). We went up the old, tiny, steep circular staircase. At the first level, we found ourselves in the main church hall, at the second, a thin passageway that runs around the top inside part of the church - Phantom of the Opera-style (I'm going to blip this one day). Still up the staircase went though...
At the third level we reached a door that was locked. I don't know what is behind that door, but I bet it's a door to a parallel world, where candy-floss eating dragons fly freely and rainbows rule the world. Probably. The top floor was the roof, which we could access and it was strange to find myself standing on top of the roof of the old church. Sadly the views were disappointing! It was a lovely adventure all the same though!
Tonight I went for my pre-marathon massage. My lovely colleagues from HIS bought me massage vouchers for my massage therapist, Sarah, as my leaving present. It was really thoughtful of them as they knew I'd be needing it for the marathon. There's also enough left over for my post-marathon massage too! Woohoo!
