Cheap Flights
Nearly two years after we should have seen Fascinating Aida in concert at Chester’s Storyhouse Theatre, we finally got to attend the much delayed and many times rescheduled performance. I think this was actually the first of our show and gig bookings to fall victim to covid as it was originally to have taken place on 5th April 2020. If you’ve not heard of them, or are unfamiliar with their oeuvre, can I suggest you type “Fascinating Aida Cheap Flights” into your search engine. I’ll wait.
Our wait was well worth it as the ladies were on top form. And we didn’t just get the show we should have had in 2020 - a lot of writing had obviously taken place during various lockdowns as there were a lot of topical references to covid, parties, Putin, etc. A wonderful two and a half hours of entertainment - I don’t think I’ve laughed so much in a long time.
Considering we were only in Chester for such a short time, we managed to pack a lot in. As well as the show, we went for a walk, hit the big city shops and visited mother. Still a lot of issues to resolve there but whilst she and my sister remain healthy with a roof over their heads, I’m not going to worry too much. What some people might see as bizarre or obsessive behaviours I interpret as analogue people struggling to live in an ever changing digital age and trying to impose order by following a very strict routine. And if that routine gets interrupted for any reason, then meltdowns born of frustration inevitably follow. There will have to be changes this year, but it’s going to be a slow process.
A remarkably free flowing M6 meant we were home by lunchtime, and I have spent some time just chilling before loading the car for tonight’s gig. With diesel now approaching £2 per litre, I suspect anything I earn from playing tonight will barely cover the cost of getting there and back. Good job I do it for the enjoyment rather than to make a living!
