Wait

Impromptu night away in Chester, partly because we left some apples here last time we were down, and didn’t want to risk them mutating into a new life form, and partly because we had some money off vouchers for Waitrose which would have expired by the time of our next planned visit.
We’ve got a gig to go to in Manchester tomorrow, so thought we’d come down a day early and do a bit of food shopping to replenish the freezer and cupboards at the flat. Just to make it a really worthwhile trip away, we have also booked tickets to see the new Wizarding World/Fantastic Beasts film which is released today. Not normally ones for seeing films on the day of release but, again, it probably wouldn’t still be on by the time of our next scheduled visit.
The tower in the background is the old Shot Tower - now turned into trendy apartments, but it was originally used for making lead shot. Molten lead was dripped from the top of the tower into a large pool of water at the bottom. On the way down the tower, the drops of molten lead formed perfect spheres which set as soon as they hit the water. Presumably the water was then drained and the shot collected.
The juxtaposition of old and new is something I’ve always liked about modern day Chester.
