Thursday: Fireworks

Tonight my big boss hosted a reception for the Platinum Jubilee. The weather, which didn’t look promising this morning, held beautifully right until the end.  The evening included fireworks from a barge in the river.  

At one point, my various worlds collided beautifully.   I was standing in a group that included the Croatian Ambassador whom I know well from my time in Zagreb, my former boss from Croatia who lives locally to us (former boss from Croatia was also my boss on my first overseas assignment in South Africa, which we were reminiscing about tonight), and T&K, whom I know from Ukraine.  

It was actually quite comforting as I’d gone thinking I wouldn’t know anyone there and being a bit apprehensive.
