Friday: Bald Faced

I had  a day off today to mark the Queen’s Jubilee.  No public holiday in Canada but my office benefitted.  Hurrah!

We hired a car for the afternoon, through a carshare programme.  We used it to take Barney to the the vet and do a Walmart shop.  We now have lots of toilet rolls……….

As for the photo. A bald-faced hornet is building a nest in our garden.  I don’t know whether to be fascinated or terrified.  I know that you don’t have a sense of scale - I’d say this nest is about the size of three ping pong balls……..

It’s not the clearest of shots but I didn’t want to incur the wrath of mother hornet…..
