Another 1980s dress!

The last in my series for now……this is a dress my sister in law gave me fairly recently. It was her daughters, my niece , when she was four or five. Her daughter only has a son so she thought it might be nice for our granddaughter. It was handmade for my niece and smocking was by that time, in 1980’s quite unusual I think. Interestingly it has a zip at the back rather than buttons. 

We also have my mothers family’s Victorian christening gown which is at least 120 years old. It was used for all my mothers siblings, lots of my cousins, my brother and myself, our children and  our grandchildren too. I had to buy a second one that was similar for our twin grandchildren…..luckily a local antique arcade  in Molesey has a stall which sells a few vintage things at prices much cheaper than online.
