Corblets Bay

This is one of our favourite beaches in Alderney and is named after Fort Corblets seen on the right.
This was another Victorian Fort, designed to have 13 mounted guns and house 59 officers and men. It was also used by the Germans in WW2 and they put anti-tank obstacles across the beach.

It underwent a major refurbishment after the war and is now a private dwelling with one holiday flat in the building too. It currently seems to have mor construction or maintenance work ongoing.

Another lovely sunny day and there were a few families swimming. This beach is a favourite for locals in the evening at low tide.
I think one of the reasons why the island is so quiet is because there are not many planes flying to/ from U.K.. only 5 a day maximum and as they only have 18 seats that’s less than 100 people per day. I’m sure there used to be more when we came 10/20 years ago. There is no ferry from the U.K. only from France once a week. There are quite a few private planes coming in and also quite a few yachts both from U.K. and France.
