Diary of an Edinburgher

Road Trip Day One

Dropped Archie with Sam, where he’s been before, about 10am and set off up the road (Extra 1) over the Forth Bridge and onward to our destination, Tain. Actually we stopped at our first destination, House of Bruar, for morning tea. Big scones and nice toilets. JR had a bit of a browse around the departments, while I went to sit on the big leather sofas to flick through the ‘Hello’ magazines.

We drove through ever changing weather - sunshine then showers, then sunshine again. My playlist of favourites blasting out - they’re still on JR’s (my old) phone.

We arrived in Tain in the early afternoon, and drove to the Glenmorangie distillery, hoping to do a tour. This was my father’s favourite whisky - and he knew about whiskies. I didn’t think to book! I booked accommodation, and evening meals some places - why did I not think the distillery tours would be booked up too?

Never mind, (I don’t think JR was too upset) we saw the long necked stills (15 metres, as tall as a giraffe, hence the giraffe images everywhere), and learned that the barrels are sourced from the Ozark Mountains.

We came back into town to visit the art gallery, because this is where the woman whose paintings we have (Extra 2) moved to several years ago. SHUT! No worries, we’ll pop in tomorrow morning before heading north.

We had excellent fish and chips and sat in a rather nice wee town garden.

Now ensconced in our B&B, tennis on the tv, with cups of tea and fruit and biscuits for supper.

Oh, last night, on the spur of the moment, we booked another holiday in September! (What are we like?)  Mind you, we have been talking about it for ages.
