Wibbly Woebly Way!
Started out the day with coffee - nothing new about that and a decision to go for a walk before we eat anything after eating plenty yesterday to satisfy a camel's next couple of days. But before we left on a trip to the facilities there was a van parked delivering to the campsite and I was somewhat spooked by a woman sitting in the passenger seat looking very like Glen Close and with eyes staring at me - it didn't matter that I went right past the van, as I looked around before entering the building she was still staring at me and I found it a little unnerving. When I came out I was now looking at the van side on and the driver had got back into the cab. At this moment I realised that Glen Close was in fact a full size photograph somehow stuck on the passenger seat and her eyes being centered were destined to stare whatever angle I was at. What a relief, but also what on earth possessed someone to have a life size photo of a random middle aged woman in the passenger seat! Anyway onward we went to Woebley where we had a delightful 3 mile walk in the fields, photo depicts Kevin's communion with some young cows. We had to lure him away and remind him that the age of consent meant he should only be consorting with the adults or people might get the wrong idea. This followed by lunch at a pub which was very short staffed. So much so, that every table had a 'Reserved' sign on it, but we discovered the reservations were non-existent and at one point the older lady in the kitchen could be heard saying 'I'm not doing any more... that's enough. Well we snagged one of the reserved tables and another couple of walk ins snagged another and that was lunch. It was actually pretty good but the 2 staff on site were clearly struggling a little with their 2 tables.
After lunch LV wanted to show us Hay on Wye which is quite a quirky town just inside Wales and all manner of rather eccentric people seemed to be roaming the streets. We thought we would have a coffee and also see if we could find some shoes for LV as his current pair were wearing very thin and any stony ground was beginning to give him rather painful sole massages. Once we had passed 5 bookshops, which seem to be the Hay on Wye thing, we found a charity shop where, lo and behold LV was able to find a great pair of shoes that were clearly new and never worn and that fitted perfectly. He then proceeded to join the eccentric natives when we had finished our coffee in the nearby coffee shop, rather than carry the old shoes anymore, he opted to simply leave them at the table and walk off in the new pair. I'm pretty sure the staff there were going to put them in lost and found or maybe they just thought yet another citizen had made their way over to the Hay hippy family - we actually saw one man walking bare foot in the town!
The evening saw us enjoying communion over a Lal Bagh Curry - very good indeed, but we were definitely all feeling well satiated by the end and retired to the Black Knight for a Canadian Bourbon nightcap, with one member of our team having a brief nap in between sips. Last night here, and hopefully equally good night's sleep for all of us - that has been very good and restful. Thankful that LV has been doing all the driving for the last couple of days after the 3000 kms I had driven in the last 2 weeks. Extra of LV's new house which he heard was definitely his it is the white and black one - number 4 on the other side of the street. L posing in the foreground.
