Today it's the turn of the horse chestnut tree to show off its colourful leaves. I'm surprised how few are left - the past week has been quite wet and windy here, apparently, so many leaves have been blown off the trees a bit earlier than usual.

I cycled up to Dunscore today as I'd been invited out to lunch; a real pleasure not just because I was cooked for, but also for the stimulating conversation with a group of lovely women. Topics were wide-ranging and sometimes surprising, but never dull (not even the concrete, Christine!).
