Scottish Forestry

Today's the day ............................. to chop down

After bemoaning the fate of the single beech tree the other day, this mass felling of pines by Scottish Forestry  near Moniaive, was on another level.

Admittedly, this is what they do - plant trees and then cut them down, some years hence.  Also, the forest here did suffer greatly in the gale-force winds that came a year ago in the guise of Storm Arwen.  You can see that those trees still standing are all at crazy angles and if it wasn't for the ones around them, they would have blown down.  But I still find it sad that they are reduced to a pile of stripped trunks.

Let's hope that many more trees have already been planted to replace them and to act as carbon sinks ..........................
