Wound up in Wexford

By Neatwithice

The view from the master bedroom ....

.... is pretty good.

Another long drive today.  We chose to take the longer route that was more motorway and N road because we thought (correctly) it would be  better in the continuing cold weather.  So we've driven the best part of 500km today.

After viewing (and loving) the house in County Cavan last week, we very nearly cancelled this viewing.  But our heads told us we should see it, as it had pretty much everything we need, including workshop space for W.

But we did expect that it would struggle to supplant the Cavan house in our hearts.

Well, we were wrong.  As we drove in, I commented that the front lawns, which had seemed excessively large on the photos, were actually a proportionate size.  W commented on how pretty the house looked.  And that favourable impression continued inside.

The house, like so many Irish houses, looks a bit boxy - but you can't feel that once you are inside.  The lounge was a comfortable size, can be made cosy.  The formal dining area was just the right size, the garden room was lovely, and the kitchen and utility rooms were "wow".

There are no long views from downstairs - but the potential for making the garden bird friendly is huge, which would hopefully make the downstairs views more interesting.  And there were lovely long views of distant hills from the upstairs windows.

We know we like the area, having spent time around there earlier this year - it's not far from the very first house we loved (and tried to buy).

So it was a winner.

And to cap it all - it's in a townland called Robinstown - Robin will be chuffed!

We made an offer on the spot.  Waiting to hear from the vendor.
