Speedy germination

I'm always impressed by green manure but this is record germination time: last week, I tentatively sowed mustard seeds (supposedly spring/summer green manure!) after pulling out my remaining beets, just thinking "You don't try, you don't get", and 5 days of rain and milder temperatures seem to have done the trick!

In the winter, I'm always happy to see soil covered with something so that's a definite win. The green manure should give this small bed a bit of a nutrient boost over the coming months.
