Van Gogh and ‘ Starry Night’
Today I had tickets to go with my daughter for Mathew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty at Sadlers Wells so…because of the train strikes we could not go by our usual route so…..drive to her house, bus to Hounslow East, Piccadilly to Kings Cross, Northern line to Angel!
Fortunately it all went according to plan both ways, it just took much longer.
We had a nice lunch in Wahacca and then to the theatre. I had only bought cheap tickets in case we could not go re COVID or something, but they were excellent..on stools in first circle very near the stage..see extra. The dancing and costumes were great, some of the interpretation a bit bizarre and I had forgotten there would be no live music. I always find it disappointing to watch ballet or a musical with recorded music as it sounds quite ‘flat’.
Walking from the tube station to the bus stop we saw the blip painted on the outside of a house, there was also a ‘mural’ of the queen on the other side of the road on the same style/ same artist. This was in Hounslow and Van Gogh did live quite near in Isleworth for a part of his life, there is blue plaque on the house where he lived that I pass quite often.
