Down South In The North

Dear O'H, Lovely Tea Jenny & Eldest Mini Princess,

I am in the Lake District visiting Smashley and Nicely.

It is really nice to catch up with them and to see their new house. I arrived mid-afternoon and after a cup of tea and a house tour, Smashley and I went for a walk to see round the area…except it was 16:30 so most of the walk was through a boggy field in the dark!

We went to one of the village pubs, Queens Head for dinner. There are no street lights in the village so we had to use head torches to find our way there and back as it’s properly pitch black. Not sure you’d ever get back without them after a few beers. Nicely said that (a long time ago) one of her friends brought a boyfriend back to meet her parents for the first time. The house was up a dark country road and on the way, they passed a rather inebriated person stumbling about in a ditch…who turned out to be her friend’s dad when he stumbled into the house later!*

When we came back (avoiding the ditch) we sat in front of a roaring fire with a glass of wine. Lovely!
