Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A dry sunny day with no wind prompted us to take a trip to the beach. We haven’t been for ages, partly because Archie’s Not Keen as he gets car sick. So he actually restricts us quite a lot, bless ‘im.

It was SO COLD down at the beach, and it was very busy. All the cafes doing a great trade. Well, the ones with indoor seating anyway. So there was no chance of a coffee, though we got a liver muffin for Arch. He then ran between us on the beach for bits of muffin, till he was tired out.

We took a walk up into the town, perhaps finding a (dog friendly) cafe. It was at least three degrees warmer away from the beach. We eventually came to Twelve Triangles, which this time, sadly, had no indoor seating (they did last time we came). They have SIX premises around the city. We got some goodies to take home.

I dropped Arch and JR off to walk home through the Park. But it’s NO FUN trying to get around the city by car. Diversions, roads closed, new cycle lanes causing problems at major intersections. When I tried to go back the way I came - NO! It was ONE WAY. I had to come right into Princes Street and over the North Bridge (which has been single lane for a couple of years). I was glad to get home and tuck into my reward pastry.

We’re watching ‘Marie Antoinette’ on iPlayer. It’s silly, but wonderful costumes.

PS Archie WAS NOT SICK!!
