Botequim

These quintessential Rio bars (Adega Perola, here) continue as happy rendezvous points for the locals. This one is our favourite and we always get a warm welcome.  The chopp (unpasteurised beer) is light, fresh  and spot-on cold.  The choice of cold and hot snacks are overwhelming. Same goes for the cachaça offering!

In other news, our air con unit gave up the ghost this morning after twelve years of service.  Hugo and Antonio helped us get it out and a new one in place inside two hours and we are now luxuriating in that lovely chill sensation when we come in off the hot streets.
