Inside the magazine
A trip in to Berwick this morning for another 30 minutes in the dentist's chair. Went in on the bus, had over half-an-hour to spare before my appointment, and decided to go down to the Green Shop. But I spotted Mouldy sitting in the window seat at Café Nero, enjoying a coffee and pastry, and went in to join her for a bit of a catch up.
The filling at the dentist's was relatively pain-free, except to my purse! Possibly hopefully it was my last appointment with this dentist. I've seen her at least twice a year for the last 10 years - she's very good, and friendly too. I fear that we'll be lucky to find such a good dentist when we move.
Over an hour to spare before catching the bus home (yes, buses are few and far between), so I walked around part of the town walls to the Green Shop. Passed the Gunpowder magazine on the way and today, much to my surprise, it was open. It's the venue for one of the short films being screened as part of this weekend's Berwick Film Festival. Didn't have enough time to watch the film, but it was a rare opportunity to see inside the magazine. It's an ammunition store constructed in 1749 to provide safe storage for explosives required by the military garrison at the nearby barracks. (Not the original barrels btw - they're dated 1986.)
Finally made it to the Green Shop and bought a couple of essentials, and a couple of non-essentials too, before running for the bus!
MrM, meanwhile, waited for the plumber who kindly came out at short notice to fix the loo, which had decided to flush continually at very bad time. A couple were due to view the flat later in the morning! Apparently the viewing went well. Fingers crossed...
